Distance Education
Social media has sky rocketed in the past few years. From Facebook to Twitter, the opportunities to catch up with one another have greatly increased. Distance learning can only be successful with effective communication. If this area is lacking, then the student and the professor suffer. They must have a communication line that is open. So with all of the new resources of technology that are amongst us, the communication era is growing rapidly. Some of the most effective types of communication tools that can be used in distance learning are video presentations, blogs, wikis, and classroom forums. If effectively used, the students will become more involved in the learning process. Also they will be more motivated to learn and are more likely to be successful in the online classroom.

I agree that social media is blowing out the roof. WHen one social media dies out there's always another one. First it was MySpace and now Facebook. My daughter told me that people are going more to instragam now than Facebook. People are also using Socialcam instead on Youtube.

It is getting more and more complex as we go on. I am still trying to find out the rule of how to post on twitter. I think it is amazing that anyone can follow anyone on twitter.
ReplyDeleteSocial media has definitely exploded. Do you have any predictions about what students will be using next? My students have been complaining about how their mother's and their friends mothers are wanting to be their "friends", and even some grandmothers! I think it's funny, but they take it very seriously.
